Dr. Yuval Kernerman

Yuval completed his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Fielding Graduate University in California and is a Senior Doctoral Associate at FPC. Before transitioning to psychology, Yuval counselled students and families for over 20 years in his role as a school principal and brings this experience of the school setting to his clinical practice. Yuval supports clients struggling with depression, anxiety, phobias, OCD, trauma, abuse, ADHD, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and emotion dysregulation.
At FPC, Yuval uses evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), amongst others. In addition to cognitive, emotional, and behavioural perspectives, Yuval conceptualizes client cases using a relational and psychodynamic orientation, which considers critical elements of relationships within the family of origin and how they contribute to who we are today. He also holds a position at CBT Psychology for Personal Development.
Yuval prides himself on working collaboratively with clients to create realistic goals. His clients describe Yuval as empathic and a good listener. When he is not seeing clients, he enjoys biking, running, listening to classical music, playing chess, and spending time with his wife, eight children, and four grandchildren.
