CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Dr. Laura Smith uses an integrative approach in her work with children, youth, families, and adults. She draws heavily from approaches such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) to work with social-emotional, behavioural, and relational difficulties.
Dr. Smith completed her residency at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board after completing her combined MA/PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa. During her time in Ottawa, Dr. Smith received clinical training through a variety of community health and private clinics. Her areas of clinical interest include working with families of children experiencing emotion and behavior regulation difficulties, as well as individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, parenting challenges, gender identity, and sexual orientation. Dr. Smith strives to create a safe, nurturing, and supportive therapeutic environment with each of her clients using evidence-based practices.
