Mahsima is a Registered Psychotherapist and earned her Masters of Social Work from the University of Toronto. While working across several children’s mental health agencies across Toronto, Mahsima delivered both individual and group therapy to children, youth and their families presenting with emotion regulation challenges related to learning difficulties, familial conflict, anxiety, depression, attention difficulties, and social concerns. Through client-centred collaboration, Mahsima utilizes various evidence-based treatments including Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical-Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help clients meet their treatment goals. In her private practice, Mahsima continues to support children, youth, adults, and parents (including caregivers who do the work of parenting) addressing a spectrum of mental health concerns. Mahsima regards the opportunity to bear witness to a client’s story and navigate the complexities inherent in the human experience living within diverse systems as a privilege. She is committed to creating a safe, open, non-judgmental, and supportive space for clients to explore their goals and feel more equipped to work through hard-to-feel emotions.
