CLINICAL ASSOCIATE

April Cockshutt is a Registered Psychotherapist with a Master of Psychology from Adler Graduate Professional School. She is passionate about supporting adolescents, children, couples, and families in reconnecting with their authentic selves and cultivating balance across the body, mind, and soul.
April believes that healing happens within safe, attuned relationships. She prioritizes building a strong therapeutic alliance where clients feel heard, supported, and able to show up without masks. Her approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to each client’s unique needs and lived experiences.
A core focus of April’s practice is relational and dyadic therapy, supporting couples, children, and family systems to strengthen communication, emotional connection, and mutual understanding. She offers individual and couples therapy. Recognizing that the health of the couple relationship often sets the emotional tone for the entire household, April works hard to help partners build emotional safety, effective communication, and a deep sense of being seen and valued.
By strengthening the couple’s bond, April supports the development of more stable, connected, and supported family systems where both adults and children can thrive. Her work integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), and an integrative framework that honors both present-day challenges and past experiences. April is also deeply committed to supporting youth and families navigating disordered eating. Drawing on her own lived experience, she creates a safe, compassionate space to foster healing, healthy communication, and a balanced relationship with food and body.
In addition to her psychotherapy training, April is a Holistic Nutritionist, allowing her to take a truly integrative approach to mental and emotional well-being. She recognizes the important role nutrition can play in emotion regulation, focus, and nervous system health—particularly for individuals with ADHD, autism, and mood-related challenges. When appropriate, April thoughtfully incorporates nutrition awareness into therapy to support emotional balance, regulation, and overall well-being.
April looks forward to meeting and partnering with you on your therapeutic journey.
