Catherine Thompson-Walsh

Catherine holds a Master’s degree in School and Clinical Child Psychology and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in this area at OISE/University of Toronto. She provides assessments and treatment for children, teens, parents, and families experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, behavioural regulation difficulties, relationship challenges, and trauma/loss. She also provides comprehensive psychoeducational assessments for children and teens struggling with learning, attentional, and developmental challenges.
Catherine has held positions at the SickKids Centre for Community Mental Health (formerly the Hincks-Dellcrest Centre), Kinark Child and Family Services, and the Toronto District School Board. She draws on her experiences to offer her clients treatments that best suit their current needs. In this way, Catherine draws as needed from Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), psychodynamic relational and attachment-based therapies, and play-based therapies.
Catherine uses a client-centered, empathic approach to provide evidence-based services to her clients. She is focused on collaboratively helping children, youth, parents, and families address difficulties and capitalize on their strengths.
