Liza Massingberd
BA, MA Student
Student Therapist

Liza is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counselling at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and holds dual Bachelor’s degrees in Communications and Theatre from Loyola University Chicago. She brings over a decade of experience in relational, client-facing roles, supporting individuals and groups through change, stress, and complex interpersonal dynamics. Her academic training, professional background, and foundation in theatre inform her thoughtful approach, helping her create a therapeutic space that is both warm and engaging.
Liza has experience working with children and supporting individuals with diverse needs in educational, recreational, and community settings. As a theatre camp counsellor, she developed a strong interest in child development, emotional expression, and group work. More recently, she has provided one-on-one support to individuals with disabilities through WeSwim, a program that reinforces the beauty of community and the outcomes that emerge when others are approached with patience, curiosity, and care.
Liza enjoys working with children, adolescents, and couples, and has a keen interest in exploring how early experiences, relationships, and emotional patterns shape well-being across the lifespan. She has experience using Emotion Focused Family Therapy as well as Emotion Focused Therapy for Youth. Additionally, Liza uses a person-centered, strengths-based, and attachment-informed approach to create a collaborative space where individuals and families feel safe, supported, and understood.
