Emotion Transformation Institute is a nonprofit research institute affiliated with Family Psychology Centre. ETI studies the role of emotion and family in development and mental health. The team comprises undergraduate research assistants, graduate student research associates, and university research partners. ETI’s current projects include the Emotion Focused Therapy Parent-Child Dyadic study, the Nonverbal Behaviour in Clinical Practice study, and the EFT Clinician Process study. ISEFT promotes EFT practice, theory, training, and research through their centralized platform for sharing basic knowledge and information about EFT, questions about EFT practice and theory, new developments, training materials, and research tools of relevance to EFT. This organization is involved in the training of treatment professionals and in the ongoing development of the EFT approach that was initially developed by Dr. Leslie Greenberg, in collaboration with Dr. Robert Elliott and Dr. Laura Rice (for individual therapy) and Dr. Sue Johnson (for couples therapy). ISEFT’s goal is to create a community of EFT practitioners and scholars. Our EFT-Y and EFT-F trainings prepare you for certification as an ISEFT therapist.
The FamilyPsycle Lab, under the Director of Dr. Dillon Browne at the University of Waterloo, takes a family-wide approach to understanding the multiple, complex influences on child development. Their program of clinical science considers the effects of adversity, social disadvantage, trauma, and technology on family relationships and developmental health. Methodologically speaking, the Lab uses epidemiological and clinical research paradigms in addition to dyadic and relational approaches to statistical modelling. FamilyPsycle Lab works closely with community health and social services and we are proud to collaborate with their on joint research initiatives.
The CPA was organized in 1939 and incorporated under the Canada Corporations Act, Part II, in May 1950. CPA envisions a society where understanding of diverse human needs, behaviours and aspirations drive legislation, policies and programs for individuals, organizations and communities. Their mission is to advance research, knowledge and application of psychology in the service of society. CPA offers student research and leadership grants, conference funding, and much more.
The Virtues Project is a global initiative, inspiring the practice of virtues across cultures. Its foundation is research into the world’s great wisdom traditions. The purpose of its programs, books, and materials is to make this timeless knowledge accessible in our individual and collective lives. The Virtues Project is being implemented within prevention, intervention and healing programs worldwide, including our own EFT-Y and EFT-F.
With a foundation in Emotion Focused Therapy and over two decades of expertise, TE’s team of dedicated clinicians create a safe, respectful environment to offer empathetic, evidence-based care. Clinic Director, Dr. Sarah Thompson, is a certified EFT therapist, supervisor, and trainer with the International Society for Emotion Focused Therapy, and holds an adjunct faculty position with the Department of Psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University.
The Trauma & Mental Health Report is a weekly online magazine founded by Dr. Robert T. Muller and published out of York University in Toronto. Their aim is to share research-based knowledge on the treatment, prevention, and implications of trauma and mental illness in an easily understood manner. They also draw on primary sources including interviews with survivors, therapists, researchers and other professionals in the fields of interpersonal trauma and mental health. The affiliated Trauma & Attachment Lab at York University is one of our longtime research partners.
